If, like most people, you’ve been affected by the recent and continued economic struggles of our country, you’ve probably considered selling various assets off to help with cashflow. And if you’ve got a timeshare, you may have even considered selling this as well, even though you might be getting a lot of use out of it.

As with a real estate agent, should you go this route, you will be responsible for paying the commission once the sale takes place. This means that you may have to build that into your asking price, which will drive it up and thus it may take longer to sell. If you want to divest yourself quickly, this may not be the best move to make.
Also you need to be wary of brokers that want all the fees upfront as once this occurs, they can take as long as they like. Some deposit is naturally acceptable, but make sure that the amount your considering feels right to you. Ultimately, this side of the equation comes down to what you feel most comfortable with: if you like the feeling of doing it all yourself (and thereby taking all the profit), do so. If on the other hand, you feel that you need some help, get some.
Something else to consider when you want to sell your timeshare fast is your ideal customer. What do I mean? Well, every company, from the largest Fortune 500 to the smallest sole proprietorship, has a mental image of their perfect client. That is, your dream sale, where everything goes the way you see it going. Ask yourself these questions: what do they do for a living? What social circles are they in? What’s their household income? What are their reasons for wanting a timeshare?
It might seem strange, but by taking the time to go through this exercise, you will have a clear picture of who you are ultimately selling to and thus will be better able to create an advertising campaign that speaks to this particular type of customer.
